Geosave: Learning from Earth's depths

About us

We are a group of students from Vukovar, a small town in Croatia, passionate about making a difference. Currently, we are working on an exciting initiative called "Geosave." This project is supported by SHORE, an organization dedicated to helping schools collaborate on impactful projects. The primary goal of Geosave is to raise awareness about geothermal energy sources in Vukovar, as we believe they hold great potential for environmental sustainability and practical use in our community. Our dedicated team of mentors includes Antonija Milić, Sanja Pavlović Šijanović, Davor Šijanović, Nataša Vinković, Ivana Rimac, and our esteemed principal, Gianna Marović-Zeko.

Through engaging in teamwork and collaborative activities, students honed their skills in communication, collaboration, and presentation while exploring the SHORE and GeoSave projects. By researching the topics, creating visual materials, and preparing concise presentations, they gained a deeper understanding of the projects' core objectives. This process encouraged the sharing of ideas, task delegation, and effective teamwork, allowing students to refine their public speaking and project management abilities. Ultimately, the experience boosted their confidence in presenting scientific concepts and working cohesively within a team environment.

About SHORE

SHORE, a Horizon Europe-funded project running from August 2023 to July 2026, operates under the call “HORIZON-MISS-2022-OCEAN-01” with a budget of €3 million. The project is dedicated to improving ocean and water literacy among students and teachers, empowering them to actively contribute to the restoration of aquatic ecosystems across five European regions: the Adriatic/Mediterranean, Baltic, Black Sea, and the Danube and Rhine basins.

SHORE offers a comprehensive suite of initiatives, including educational resources, teacher training programs, local action hubs, school project calls focused on blue sustainability, and a dynamic digital platform for learning and collaboration. The project aims to expand the European Blue Schools network, advance the EU’s Mission to Restore Our Ocean and Waters by 2030, promote global blue curricula, and equip educators with essential skills in blue education.

Led by Yıldız Technical University (Turkey), SHORE unites 14 partners from 10 countries, including Euronovia Conseil (France), Budapest University of Technology and Economics (Hungary), and ONG MareNostrum (Romania). The project has already developed over 230 educational resources, initiated school projects through open calls, and launched a digital platform designed for collaboration, progress monitoring, and gamified engagement.
